Meet Julie Satterwhite

Julie serves on the Board of Directors as the Director of Marketing & Media. In her role she maintains the website, generates print and digital graphics, moderates the Facebook group, and works with local media partners. Julie also co-coordinates the annual Bellies-Babies-Tots. In her roles, Julie uses her professional marketing and non-profit fundraising/outreach background to share the mission of B.R.E.A.S.T.Roanoke and reach as many breastfeeding families and their support network as possible.

Her Story
She always knew she would breastfeed her children, but never knew that it wouldn't come naturally. At the beginning while nursing her oldest, Julie experienced excruciating pain with every latch and after a week of tears, screaming, and frustration she finally got her son's latch fixed with the help of an IBCLC, great friends, and incredible support from family. Her oldest nursed for over 20 months! When her second child was born, he was readmitted at 6 days old for jaundice. Julie pumped around the clock to ensure he received nothing but breast milk either by bottle or a supplemental nursing system at the breast. She's has now gone on to successfully breastfed her second son for just over a year, and is currently breastfeeding her third son! Julie is ready to help more first time moms get the support and encouragement they need to have a successful breastfeeding journey, and hopes to remind every mom to never quit on their hardest day.
